Good to know
Ingredient quantities are scaled in the original units. Oven temperature, cooking time, dough fermentation and pan size may need separate adjustment.
How to scale recipe ingredients
First enter the recipe’s original yield and the number of servings you want. Add the ingredient names, quantities and units exactly as they appear in the original recipe. The calculator multiplies each quantity by the target servings divided by the original servings. You can add ingredients or remove rows, then copy the scaled list for shopping or cooking.
See the calculation
If a pasta recipe serves four and calls for 300 g of pasta, scaling to six servings applies a factor of 6 ÷ 4 = 1.5. You will need 450 g of pasta. An ingredient listed as 2 tablespoons becomes 3 tablespoons. The ingredient units stay the same, so there are no hidden cup-to-gram assumptions.
Before you rely on the result
Scaling ingredients does not guarantee identical cooking results. Pan size, heat transfer, baking time, yeast fermentation, salt perception and ingredient rounding can require adjustments. For baking especially, weigh ingredients when precision matters; the tool scales quantity but cannot account for differences in density between ingredients.
